Gather all of the jumpers for this drill at the long jump pit so they can compete against each other.
How it Works
The jumpers use their standard approach and stride at full speed.
This gives them a feel for being in a competition, only this time the competition is to see who is closest to the takeoff line, rather than the length of the jump.
The approach is very important for the long jumper, and can mean the difference between winning and losing. In this drill, stress that each jumper should take a good, consistent approach that gets them as close to the takeoff line as possible. This will result in valuable inches gained during their jump.
