Purpose

Jumpers practice their takeoff and going over the bar with a “back-over.”

Setup

  • Run the drill at the high jump apparatus.

How it Works

  1. Jumper takes four steps and jumps off a box to go over the high jump bar.
  2. Jumper can also use a six-step and an eight-step approach.

Coaching Tips

  • Look for jumper to achieve full extension off the box with big amplitude at the hips.
  • Make sure jumper is fully extending the takeoff leg on the jump.
